Albury Brothers Boats

Helping People

I was lead coordinator on the ground for Hopetown Fire Rescue following the storm. For the first 72 hours following the storm the only boats we had operational on the entire island of Elbow Cay were a Albury 20 and Albury 33. These boats were operated by our HTVFR team as Marine1 and Marine2. These boats were instrumental in the water evacuation operations and were able to save many lives. We sent out Marine1 on many rescue missions to the outlying cays including MOW, Marsh Harbour, Lubbers Quarters, Parrot Cay, Tilloo Cay, Little Harbour, as well as many others, to bring them back to Hopetown for helicopter medevacs from our cleared ball field landing zone. These two vessels also were used in the mass evacuation of 227 people and 20+ pets from Hopetown to the Lady Lisa fast ferry. Thank you Albury Brothers for building such a safe and stable boat to allow us to operate our critical rescue missions in initial hurricane force winds, and to get so many people to safety.
